Project Overview
In 2017, a well-known retail company needed our assistance to complete the DTP task with high quality for a large number of materials to be printed for its stores all over China.
Project Requirements
The source is a Word file of 230 pages, which needs to be converted to the Indesign format. The customer wanted us to complete the task within 5 working days, a total of 7 natural days. The customer also wanted us to deliver two process documents for checking.
Difficulties
♦ The manuscript format is chaotic and needs to be unified. A large number of images and tables need to be adjusted.
♦ The Word file provided upon project kick-off is not the final version. The customer had the content modified and offered the final Word file on the third working day after project kick-off.
♦ The customer did not provide a style guide. Our DTP engineers are required to provide the optimal solution.
Project Process
1. Refine the format and layout of the original Word file for customer review. (Within half a working day)
2. Perform Indesign typesetting according to the format and layout confirmed by the customer and produce the first PDF version for customer review. (Within two working days)
3. Modify the Indesign file according to the customer's review comments on the first PDF version and additional requirements, and produce the second PDF version for customer review. (Within two working days)
4. Modify the Indesign file according to the customer's review comments on the second PDF version and additional requirements, produce the third PDF version for customer review, and confirm comments again to produce the final version for printing. (Within two working days)
Project Summary
This project has high requirements on quality and timeliness. The customer modified the texts, images, and tables after project kick-off, and added additional requirements on the layout. The project team arranged dedicated personnel to respond to the requirement changes in a timely manner. Our DTP engineers worked overtime for several days and delivered the final version at 3 o'clock in the morning a day before the deadline. We won high recognition and appreciation from the customer out of our high-quality and on-time delivery.
